Even though I am a new bander I have to say that I WOULD ABSOLUTELY DO IT AGAIN. I am so thankful for the results that I have already seen. I highly recommend it to anyone who is concidering weight loss surgery.

"yes" is not nearly strong enough.

"Hell Yes!" Comes closer.

"So Fast it Would Make Your Head Spin" might even be closer.

I only wish I could have gotten a band when I was 20.

:]

Most definatley YES, even with all my complications and everything I'd still do it again. I would never have lost the weight otherwise.

I'm just hoping that once this little bubs pops out i'll be able to finally sort out all the complications LOL

I think the RNY'ers are just jealous of us Bandsters! Think about it, we didn't have to get all cut up so our surgery was much less invasive and a much faster healing time. We lose weight just like the RNY'ers but we lose more slowly. I believe there are big benefits to losing slowly. Take a look at most of the RNY folks...A lot of them look sick.

So we all chose what method was best for us. For me it was the lap band. I've already said it in an earlier post but I would SO DO IT AGAIN!!! And thanks to my lap band I've met some of the coolest people there are! The folks here at LBT................

RNY's I have two employees that are 2 years post op (RNY) One lost 225 the first year, and gained 100 of it back the second. The other lost 235 and I swear has the most jacked up eating habits, and I suspect binges and well you know.... Yuko!

Thankful for lap band!

I definitely would! I wish I didn't have to pay out of pocket but it was definitely worth it. I also wish I was losing a bit faster. But overall a big fat YES! I love being able to eat what I want and not "dieting". I am so thrilled that I eat "human" portions and feel content. It is better then I ever hoped!

I voted no. Mainly because I have not seen much weight loss, have felt terrible pain from being overfilled, can not eat the things I am used to (even the healthy stuff), crap goes right thru, and my whole life has changed for nothing. I still buy the Vitamin appetite control things, my cravings/hunger is still there, I apparently can eat enough to stretch my pouch, and have to worry about every little thing now. Eating out is a pain, eating in front of co-workers is a chore, and I hate the way I feel about myself even more. Being a lap band failure is worse than being a regular old failure. At least when I was a regular old failure, I could eat broccoli and bread when I wanted to. Or, salad... or nuts... or drink a coke... or .... well you get the point.

And don't get me started about the questions from others. "so, how are you doing? How much have you lost?" Or the look I get from my DH when I eat something I am "not suppose" to.

This TOOL works for some, but has not worked for me. This was my last ditch effort and I still have the same "head issues" and physical issues such as carb cravings. It will not work if you are a sweet eater.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
