I searched and was surprised that I did not readily find a poll that asks the question: "Would you do it again?" I think that is a burning question that 99% of newcomers would like to see answered! It probably should be a sticky somewhere....dontcha think? If it's here somewhere, I haven't found it yet.

So....here goes. I'm going to keep it real simple, too. Yes or No.

NOTE: Keep in mind that the results will be skewed towards the "No" because people that are having problems visit this board more than people who are sailing right through their experience with no problems at all.

Oh hell yeah!!!! LOL!!! As challenging as this gets at times..it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. I feel so much healthier and full of energy. I know now that I will be here for my son and do all the things a mom is supposed to do. No doubt, the best decision I've ever made!

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat! Libra hit the nail on the head...like her it was the best decision I have ever made! Other than marrying the love of my life of course.....but that falls into a different category!

I'm still not sure. Even though I have lost a good amount of weight, I am less than a year out and I still have a great fear of regaining the weight. I have lost this much or more several times in the past and it always came back. I know the chances are good, but I can't wrap my brain around never being the fat girl ever again!

I remember seeing a similar question on here before I was banded. Most people said they would do it again, even though at that time it seemed like a lot of people were experiencing complications. I wish there was a way to do a multiple dimension survey on here. I would like to see how the answers to these kinds of questions vary based on how long you've been banded.

100% YES!!! I wouldn't even think twice about it. I have had such a positive experience with the band, don't get me wrong I've had to change the way that I deal with food but it's not anything that I haven't been able to live with.

5 said no. I'd like to hear why. Anybody?

I wish I DIDN'T HAVE to have it done, but I did vote yes, I'd do it again.

But I'd like to hear from the no people. Was it because of complications or because it wasn't effective for them?

Just curious.

Thanks in advance.

I would like to hear if there has been any horror stories with the lap-band procedure. I keep hearing good things about it, but everyone I have met say they do not like the lap-band. They all have the RNY surgery. Can anyone give me feedback?

Hmmm, my experience was exactly the opposite. Everyone I asked pre-band loved it while those with RNY complained with complications. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
