Thank you all so much! This has been some great info! I'm sure I'll have many more questions but this has answered alot. Great to hear this seems to be successful with most people. I'm going for a re-evaluation now for the the sleep apnea because my previous results were from a study done over 10 years ago so they need more up to date info' date=' but assuming that all goes well my doc says we can start looking at dates. Anyone have any suggestions for the best times of year/days of weeks to get the surgery? My husband is active duty military and we live about 1500 miles away from family so I'm trying to arrange my care taker needs, etc.[/quote']

I only had my husbands help because I didn't tell anyone else and i iHave three small children. I was quite sore for about a week with the gas and everything. Then I caught a bad cold and the coughing was unreal. I wore a support belt ( or whatever they're called, I wore it for awhile when I was prego too to "hold everything in") cause I thought I might pop something with the coughing. Then emotionally I was a wreck the second week having to feed everyone and I was still on full liquids. I would say by week four I was better emotionally and physically... So pick a time that you are not super busy and you can get some rest. I would have hated having this done around a big occasion not bein able to eat and bein emotional. Good luck! Keep in touch!

Your very welcome JCallie... I think I speak for everyone when I say we are all here to help... Even though my daughter had the surgery, and not I, I had many questions, concerns and fears... You know your schedule, your life, what will work best for you and your lifestyle. My daughter had her surgery Dec.31/12.... the reason being, it was just convenient... I work for the school division, and it was during the Christmas break, so I did not have to take time off work to be with her...convenience.... After we set the date, it was great for my daughter, she was looking forward to starting the new year. What a great way to start the New Year! :) So I don't really know if there's a good time, its whatever works best for you... Good luck, and we are all here for you, as we had others, here for us!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
