aroseofbeauty 7 Posted January 23, 2013 On Jan 9th I took the biggest decision I ever made into action and had the operation in Rocky Mount, NC. A week before my operation, my cousin underwent the same surgery. She was having some difficulties that left me second guessing on going through with it. Other family members were also telling me things they had heard about it. Needless to say walking into the hospital that day, I was very nerves but I prayed to GOD and a calmness settled over me. The surgery went very well and I only spent two days in the hospital. I have been staying with my parents for 2 weeks with no vomitting, no fever, some burning pain on my left side that is suppose to go away in a couple more weeks. Just had my 2 weeks follow up. I have lost 26 pounds, able to go back to work and to drive...so excited about that...lol. The hardest part for me was that my taste buds changed after surgery...might have been the meds...but everything including ice either tasted very sweet or salty to me which I didn't like. The shakes I had to take every 2 hrs became a problem after the first week bc of it's sweetness. U think u would love something that taste like a milkshake??? Now I'm on puree food for the next 4 weeks...so far I like it!
