h21 20 Posted June 12, 2012 I am curious of how many post op plicaters include some component of psychological care/treatment in their program? The mental part of weight loss has to be the hardest part. If I go to Mexico for surgery there will be no aftercare, what have other Mexican plicaters done post op? kah1213 311 Posted June 13, 2012 I didn't go to Mexico, but I agree there is a mental side to this and I have a therapist I see 2x per month.

Ihave6kids 29 Posted June 20, 2012 I had my surgery done in Mexico. I agree with tobethin30. It has been a tremdous help, this website and also obesityhelp.com Talking to others about our similar experience is so helpful. While there isn't a forum on obesityhelp.com for us plicationers, there is one for vertical sleevers. Our surgeries are so similar with the same way of eating. (Don't say that on that website though. They tend to get a little uppity about it and insist our surgeries are so different. Even had one act angry with me that I said they were similar. Oh well. You ignore the stupid people. After my surgery in Mexico I didn't feel lost or on my own. I went to a local support group for several months. While nobody had my surgery, we all have the same eating and emotional issues. madameartiste 1 Posted July 7, 2012 h21 I agree, there is a whole world of support on a blog site like this one. Where else can you talk with people who are going through the same kind of issues as yourself? Sometimes I think its better than a therapist.
Ana 4 Posted August 21, 2012 Before I decided to have WLS, plication, I got to the psychological root of why I ate the way that I did and that helped tremendously, but also, I come to these boards as a way of continuing to learn more about myself. I find it so helpful to talk to others who are sharing this journey with me and feel thankful for everyone here who posts. I would recommend keeping a journal of what makes you feel like you want to over eat or eat off the program. Therein lies the root of things. I don't mean to say this like it's going to solve everything immediately, but it is going to help begin that necessary journey *HUGS*
