Hey all!!

I started Zumba two weeks ago and today I did an hour with a trainer. Let me start off by "saying" that I thought I was going to pass out!!! I busted my bu** but I did an entire hour. Am doing 2 days Zumba with a 30 minute treadmill walk inclined to 5 and 2 days of circuit training (whatever that means). I've noticed a decrease in weight loss already. To date I've lost 33 pounds.

I am hoping to be able to run for 3-4 minutes straight without stopping. I can 2 mins right now but my poor knees give out.

Side note (not excercise related): today I carried (3) 10pound ice bags for 5mins and I realized how much harder my legs/body were working to move. I've put my body through alot and am looking forward to a healthier, skinner me.

How's everyone else doing?

Wow kika79 Zumba is a great way to jump start an exercise regimen post-op. I love ur spirit towards a healthy lifestyle. I think u are being a little 'too hard' with urself( unless u were working out before ur operation). And yes-yes we are definitely mean to our bodies with those extra pounds we carry, and our lovely body never makes us realise that.. All the best to u. I m scheduled on 15 jun for my plication, I'll begin with Zumba too.

Hey Pranjala

This is the first time I've exercised since 2009. I waited until my one month anniversary got clearance and am not stopping (LOL).According to my doc the plication will help us loose 60-70pounds without exercise but after that it's all up to us. I think that the first 3months are crucial so I want to loose as much as possible.

Good luck to you!! You will feel great when you see the pounds come off.

I can so very well relate to your 'not stopping'... Thanks for ur wishes, and yes my doc said that post surgery exercise is very important because during weight loss the body's BMR drops. This is the reason why we hit platues; and diet alone will geopardise the whole weight loss scenario, an important reason why people regain even after surgeries (no surgery is human-proof). Workouts keep the resting metabolism active and we keep burning calories even when we go to bed:) keep us updated and inspired..;D

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
