My surgery is scheduled to be done the morning of April 17th 2012 with Dr. Ortiz...at the Obesity Control Center......

Well here I am 8 days before surgery, 8 pounds off with 3 more to go to be able to meet my required weight loss! I found that an hour or two after dinner I am hungry again. What I found helps is to take a metamucil pill at 3 pm ish....that staves off hunger. I will have to remember to ask Dr. Ortiz what I should do when hunger strikes (especially in evenings) after surgery.

I have a whole list of questions to ask Dr. Ortiz before I have surgery. It seems so many of you are stuck on losing only 50 or so pounds...that would not make me happy as I really need to lose 80 to 100. I am 5'8 1/2 and weighed 230 when I started my preop.

Does any one know how soon you can start to exercise/golf after surgery???

You can start to walk right after surgery, walk walk walk, as for other exercise I think that varies on each individual, I had my surgery march 8 , no way can I do more then walk, I have noticed this week that I feel stronger(very tender mid section), so I am going to try more, as for golf, I am a golfer was told no golfing, vacuuming, washing floors for 3 months after surgery, that is 1 of the reasons I decided to have surgery in march, be ready for golf season. I am down 31 lbs , 16 "I am at stall right now , but that is ok, it happens, especially now that I am on solid foods, body going wow she is feeding me again, lol. As for wondering abouting hunger pains after surgery, do not think you will have this issue anymore, since my surgery I have had none, other then first thing in morning, lunch, supper, in between not hungry at all.

I like you have 75 lbs to loose and I know that will be off by August , only 44 lbs to go, the other thing to remember is the scale is sometimes not our friend, measure yourself once you get home and keep checking once a week, those inches are just as important as the weight loss, follow the program , watch what you eat and you will lose np.

Gl, looking forward to hearing about your journey.

I wouldn't necessarily cancel golf for May. I was back at the gym at the beginning of my 3rd week post surgery and even doing stuff where I was laying on my stomach. My dr basically said there are no restrictions, just do what's comfortable. I also enjoy golfing, and think had the weather been permitting I could have golfed in my 3rd weeks post op. I think the biggest thing that might hold you back is that you may get tired easier and not be able to finish all 18 holes. The reality is you don't have to worry about your stomach except when it comes to food. The rest is just the healing of the incision sites.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
