New Gastric Sleeve Plication Surgery Patient Day 6

Recommended Posts

I have lost 7 pounds since surgery. I am having minimal burning and zero naseua. I have very low energy but am well hydrated. I thought I would be able to return to work on Day 4. Worked for 3 hours and couldn't go on. WOrked 3 hours on day 5. I have decided to take the next week off and just rest! Some diareaha today for some reason. Overall, I feel good and am not having any regrets! Good luck to all of us!

Hi Lap,

I am getting the surgery in a week and I am also going to try and go back to work on day 4. I have a pretty sedentary job. Can you tell me why you were having problems staying at work the whole day? I'm worried about that too...not to mention I have to turn around and fly back for my one week check up. I have a feeling this will be tough.

Kiki- I really liked the Protein Shakes from Costco! I don't know who makes them, but they just say Protein on the package. They come in Choc and vanilla and they don't have any weird after taste. There are also ready to drink, so you don't have the hard to mix powder to deal with. I wouldn't suggest drinking them just yet, unless you are the kind of person that can have the same thing over and over without getting sick of it! You will be drinking so much of that stuff before and after surgery and you will want to vomit with just the thought of having another! I am 4 months out and 46 lbs lighter! Once you are back to solid foods, your Dr won't want you drinking shakes anymore. They want food in your system that will take time to digest so you stay full longer. As far as vitamins... I still just take the children's chewable from costco. You either need to have a chewable or a liquid, and nothing gummy!

Good luck in April!!! We are all here to support and cheer you on!!!

I make my own shakes using Why Protein and rice milk. I take Centrum chewables Vitamins. I am not able to work because I have no stamina. I checked with the nutritionist and I am adding more Protein and probiotic to improve my stamina. I made a car road trip 7 days after surgery and I did fine. Good luck!

Down 12 pounds in 9 days. Loving that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
