Left Upper Abdomen Pain

Recommended Posts

I just started a thread about this exact thing lol... Can anyone shed any insight in the upper rib pain etc anymore? Did it go away?

I have pain on my left side... feels like really intense runners cramps... I phone Dr this morning and he said it's because my stomach has changed shape and the muscles are spasming but that it is my stomach settling into a new position. It was excrutiating today, I could barely stand up this morning. I had to finally take a couple Tylenol. I am on day 5 after surgery. Original surgery was Dec 14th, but they had to go back in and redo the sutures on Dec 17th. My hips are also very sore and have bruising around my entire top of my thigh. My incisions are also bruised. I have never had any type of surgery or ever been in a hospital so it's all pretty scary and overwhelming for me.... I have nothing to compare it to. I hope I'm doing well !!! :)

I also can't take a deep breath or it hurts, and I cant bend over to put my shoes or socks on anymore, it feels like my incision is going to explode. UGH !! Anyone else have/had all these symptoms ?

Well I have to say I am 20 days out now and those pains are gone. Once in a while if I lay wrong or something I might get a little pain but for the most part it's all good:) how many days out are you guys now? Are your pains gone?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
