skinigrl2b 1 Posted September 27, 2011 hi all - I found this site through lapbandtalk.com - I'm really considering plication and wondered if anyone knows if it's safe to get pregnant after having the plication?? I can find info on the subject under the lap band sites, but can't find anything under plication. thanks!
Bekrudz 141 Posted September 27, 2011 All I know is what my Dr told me. Because I am in a research study here in Everett, WA, they have asked that I not get pregnant for 3 years during the study. My Dr then smiled and told me that it was best to wait at least a year after the surgery before getting pregnant again (she said it's not good to get pregnant when you are rapidly losing weight). She said I would have no problem being pregnant after the surgery. I guess it makes sense.... I couldn't eat that much when I was pregnant due to the baby squishing my stomach. The reality is that you only need an extra 300 calories a day for a growing baby. People say you eat for 2, but it's just not true. I ABSOLUTELY plan on having another baby when the time comes that I can safely get pregnant again. I would say.... Definitely talk to your Dr about it! I am not worried at all since my Dr put me at ease about it! hi all - I found this site through lapbandtalk.com - I'm really considering plication and wondered if anyone knows if it's safe to get pregnant after having the plication?? TijuanaPlication 87 Posted September 27, 2011 I've read you should wait a year as you don't want to get pregnant during your weight loss window when you're able to eat less. Tiffykins over on http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com is a couple of years out from VSG and is pregnant and has posted a bit on her pregnancy, so you could search for some of her posts. skinigrl2b 1 Posted September 28, 2011 thanks y'all - I feel really good about this procedure. I want to get healthier so that I can have another child - that's my main motivation at the moment. I just feel alot of pressure (self-inflicted) to get this done soon. I wish I could find a way to pay for it!
