And now three weeks have come and gone and I'm ready for a more normal diet. I actually cooked a nice Sunday dinner yesterday with Ribs, Fried Potatoes & Onions, Baked Beans, Sweet Potatoes, and a salad. I fixed my plate with literally two small bites of everything except the ribs - I had about 3 ounces of meat on my plate. I was able to eat it all, very slowly, chewing everything to mush - it was about a cup of food total - and I felt full, very full and satisfied without feeling overly stuffed. I can eat this way for the rest of my life I think.

For the person who was asking, I went to Dr. Ponce in Chattanooga (Surger Center in Dalton, Ga) and the cost was $9600 plus the $250 consultation fee. Worth every penny to me.

So - lost another 4 pounds this week - for a total of 14 since surgery and 21 total. I'll take it!

Hi all! It's been 4 weeks since surgery and I am still doing well. I'm back on a mostly normal diet and haven't found anything yet that has given me problems. I have had a couple incidents where I ate too fast, didn't chew thoroughly, or ate too much and I felt totally miserable for about an hour afterward!! I've learned not to do that! I am also having a hard time learning NOT to drink anything with meals and for an hour afterward, that is a difficult habit to break.

I go back to Chattanooga this week for my 4 week check-up and hopefully I'll get fully released from all restrictions...

Oh, and I lost another 2 lbs this week!! Still on track!

Hey Grandma. Glad to hear you're doing well. The whole not drinking with meals has been difficult for me also. It helped me to read the VSG boards and to realize that not drinking during meals can also mean "not more than 1/2 cup of water", depending on which physician or nutritionist you talk with.

I've slowly allowed myself to sip Water (rather than gulp it while eating like I used to do). I try to keep that to a quarter cup or less, but the need to occasionally sip isn't something that I've been able to completely give up. That helps while eating. I do stick with not drinking afterwards for an hour. It often hurts if I don't, and I've made myself sick a time or two when I ignored what my body was telling me. Also, I tend to get hungry again sooner if I don't wait the full hour.

I hope you're visit with the Dr. goes well.
