Hello Everyone:

I am about 40lbs away from my goal. Thats about half way to my goal. I am researching liposculpture and I really want it done. There is a doctor locally which will do upper abs, lower abs and flanks for about $3k. Since I just had my plication three months ago, Im feeling like maybe I need to let my body recouperate before any other type of surgery, even liposculpture. However, with my slow weight loss, Im thinking that losing most of my ab fat almost instantly would really boost my spirits.

Does anyone know how long a person should wait between surgery and plastics?

Thanks

Sorry, but I've heard it's advised to wait at least one year after you reach goal before scheduling plastic surgery. Mainly for two reasons. 1. In case you dont keep the weight off. Gaining weight after plastic surgery supposedly doesn't look so good! And 2. To allow your body to adjust and rearrange.

Hi Diva,

I think most docs want you to be at a stable weight for 4-6 months before plastic surgery. I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon when I got close to my lowest weight with the band and was told that I should wait at least 3 months at that weight before I had surgery. I gained back almost all of my weight so it was a good thing I didn't have surgery!!

However, I've had 2 children since being banded and I can really see the difference in my body. I'd love to have a Tummy Tuck since my stomach is one of my major problem areas. I agree that this would be very motivating. Have you met with the doctor yet? He/she may have a set time they want you to wait before having plastics.

Good luck and please let us know what you decide.

Take care,

thanks for the responses.. yes, I have been medically advised to wait 1 year.. so it will be next April 2012 im sure before I have the liposculpture.. but, I am definately having it.. losing 41 LBS AT THE AGE OF 42.. looks a heck of a lot different then when I lost 42 lbs at the age of 32.. back then.. after loosing weight after a car wreck, i still looked "perky" 10 years later, same amount of weight loss and I look like a severe gravity victim.. So I will be patient and weight.. also, it will give me time to save the rest of the money

Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
