You really need to ask your doctor about this. I was told to absolutely not lift anything over 10 lbs for at least 2 weeks, or until I get the ok from my doc.

Best of luck!

I had a week off from my desk job. I can tell you it did take me most of the second week to get back into the swing of things. I would say to avoid the slowness and adjustment issues at work, just take two weeks so you can relax and heal.

I was just banded on 2/16, and have a desk job. I tried to return to work too soon. I thought I was fine, but was not. I ended up taking the two weeks (short term disability) and am glad I did. I go back to work this Friday. Everyone is different, listen to your body. My doctor told me not to lift any thing over 25lbs over my head. Sounds like this is something you may have to do.

Good Luck!

I could not agree more with the above. I planned on taking just a week, went back the following week - BIG mistake. Was just too much and I was misreable in pain. Take the time to properly heal. I would definately ask your doctor about lifting and any other repeatative functions you have to perform. Just to make sure you don't injury yourself. Best of luck.

I had surgery on a Friday and was back at work the following Monday. However, I do have a desk job so I don't have to pick up anything heavy or reach for anything. I felt great with only some soreness by my port incision.

Take as long as you can off because the more rest the better!

Good luck!

I had my surgery 1/19/07 and I was out of work for four weeks. I could have probably returned in three. I work in a psychiatric hospital with some very unpredictable clients behavior wise. Plus, I needed a break fromm some of the staff. :)

I was off work a total of 11 days, including weekends. My doctor said no lifting over 15 lbs for 4 weeks. I've been back at work 1 day, plus today, and it's not horrible, but far from great.

I was banded on 1/30/07 and am still out of work though I'll be going back in about 1 week. I have a job where I lift patients. My doctor won't even let me lift weights until after my first fill which isn't til the 3rd week in March. Gigi

I was banded 11/21/06 and returned to work 1/2/07....I had a six week recovery. I have a desk job but I do lift 5-10 lbs. I probably could have gone back after a month but since I had the sick time, I decided to really get myself on track with the menus and keeping track of my Protein and Fluid intake. I think that part is the hardest.....writing everything down and tallying it all up to be sure you had all the nutrition you needed for the day.

I am concerned about time off... also. My PCP said that most people can have the surgery on a Thursday morning, and then return to work on Monday. I am hoping that is how it works for me.

I had a breast reduction back in August. I had the surgery on Thursday Morning, and was back to work the next Wednesday. I didn't even need an entire week. I didn't have as much removed as some people do, but I did have almost 3 lbs taken off. *what a huge relief*

Anyway... I recovered like a champ from that, and from all of my other surgeries (2 c-sections and a hysterectomy). So I am keeping all fingers and toes crossed that this will go as smoothly as the others.

:humble: :)

I had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on the following Wednesday and I feel it was too soon. I should have stayed home that whole week but it has been 2 weeks now since the surgery and I am doing fine. Still a little sore and can't wear my jeans on casual Fridays but otherwise I am great!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
