my docs idea of full liquid was:

Soup with no lumps or bumps, no exceptions

yogurt

remember you can have stuff if you put it through a blender. I liked refried Beans blended with salsa, cheese, sour cream and chicken broth. I ate a lot of split pea and ham Soup that was blended.

liquid diet means it's drinkable...not that it's clear. So mashed potatoes. Yes. I would thin them down. a lot. But yes, if they don't make you dump.

I would check with your nutritionist first. I was not allowed blended foods. My DR said that even if it is smooth, certain foods are harder on your pouch even if they're blended. I was allowed pudding, Jello, Protein shakes, smooth Soups (not blended chunky ones), yogurt, milk, etc.

wow. as I read these posts it is scary to read them. People have many different diets and such. I currently like Protein Shakes. I make them with the whey powder from Walmart. What I think will be the hardest for me is the coffee and how I like it in the morning. Routines will change I can see. Yogurt is good but I can see this to be something that might get "old". Is the Protein shakes specific to the surgery?

My doctor gave me a list of what I could eat for 2 weeks after. If not on the list than its a no he said....my list Protein Shakes, yogurt but dont eat the fruit pieces, sf Jello, sf pudding, sf freeze pop, cream Soup but again dont eat any little pieces, and of course water...pretty simple.

But all doctors have differ plans and your plan is what you should follow.

Most doctors want you to consume 60-100g of Protein daily. Since our pouch only holds so much at the beginning, protein shakes are suggested by most doctors. I eat three meals and 2 shakes a day. I will send you some links of the programs of some places it explains it all. Are you in a program or just deciding to have the surgery?

I am on a track now. I have appt for the psych evaluation next week. I have some labs to complete ans I have already lost the 5% required so now I have to maintain and join a support group and attend at least two seminars (I can be online). So I am just waiting. Was told that surgery would not happen until at least January.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
