life_after_gastric_bypass 214 Posted October 4, 2013 After having major surgery I think all of us agree you will be tired and may have minor pains and aches and you will need to be resting and healing. I understand that this is dad's wedding but this is a life change for you and this is a big deal for you..... if it was me, I would send my blessings but I will move forward with my surgery...I would not change my surgery date for anyone. This is your time, your new beginning and dad should understand that! Good luck
slwyse 7 Posted October 5, 2013 I have to agree with almost everybody here. I know you don't want to disappoint your Dad, but I will tell you that, even when I thought I could do more the first week I was in pain, was restless at night and exhausted by the afternoon. I'm not saying you can't do it, but you will probably have a hard time socializing and focusing, be unable to eat and wish you could just be at home. Plus, clothing hurts your stomach! Sometimes you have to be selfish and do what's best for you. Hopefully your Dad will understand. Good luck. Sue
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted October 5, 2013 I could have done it. I would have been exhausted and slept on the way down and back but I could have done it. Honestly. Until you're at that point. I don't think you can predict how you'll be feeling and if you're physically capable if going or not. Perhaps you'll wake up that morning feeling great and want to try, but I don't think you can commit to going at this point :/ sorry this is so tough, hope you find peace with your decision. mamafine23 101 Posted October 5, 2013 I wouldn't do it...your in that time period of pain and trying to get liquids down is a struggle...everyone's body reacts differently but you have take care of yourself and you don't need to take any chances with your recovery and health after having major surgery.
