So what type of food are you eating? I am cleared to eat Protein but I believe I am getting bored. Today I picked up some honey walnut shrimp and immediately got sick. I know better but it sounded so good.

Maybe the honey did it? Or nuts? I can't have nuts till six months out. I can eat shrimp just fine - I have it w/just a little cocktail sauce.

I am sure it had too much sugar. I have become very sensitive to sugar. Anything over one gram and I will get sick. I did not eat the walnuts just the shrimp. And I really craved this dish. But it was not as good as what I remembered and I will not make that mistake again. Being one month out, I still have a lot to learn.

Before my surgery, when I was going through my "last supper" phase, I found the same thing - nothing tasted as good as I anticipated. I try to keep that in mind if something is tempting me. That and the fact that I could get sick. :-p

Honey walnut shrimp has sweetened condensed milk and mayo in it for the sauce. It might haven both fat and sugar.

I know the feeling. A lot of the foods that I loved taste nasty or different and I don't enjoy them but everyday is different.it all depends on what my pouch wants (she runs the show, I've named it a fickle B**** until I can think of a new name). I tolerate moist boneless skinless chi breast and moist baked fish an moist ground turkey really well but I have to chew 35 times or more but I can't complain. Certain smells make me nauseous but I take my medicine to ward off getting sick. Try the foods u don't like at a later date because our taste buds change almost daily,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
