ponchik 77 Posted October 6, 2013 I think I never saw ice cream in the store with more than 1-2 grams of Protein, but there's a chance you will not be craving sweet treats that much post op. I know I don't. Some foods I eat now don't have high count of protein, like cracker I have with tuna or piece of melon for dessert. I think main problem with ice cream is the consistency, you don't feel full after having it but your body still consumes the calories from carbs

terry1118 1,274 Posted October 6, 2013 Ok it only has 1gm of Protein. So it's really not worth it. If you want a frozen treat try Healthy Choice frozen Greek yogurt. It has 4gr of Protein and 100 calories. I keep it in my freezer so when my hubby has ice cream I can have a little something too. The hard part is getting him to leave it alone - he'll eat the whole package (three 1/2 cup servings). I like the blueberry and strawberry flavors but it also comes in vanilla and chocolate swirl flavors. I found a frozen Greek yogurt bar at Stop&Shop that also has 4gr of protein. I bought my husband the raspberry flavor and I think the other one was blueberry/pomegranate. One store had it in chocolate, too. (Hubby's favorite). It's not too pricy because it's the store brand. When it was hot I'd have the frozen Greek yogurt as an occasional treat but more often I'd have the no sugar added Popsicles just to cool off. I haven't had either one since the weather turned cooler. :-)

SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted October 6, 2013 My sweet tooth is still alive and breathing, just not as over powering as she was pre-op! Typically 3-4 bites makes me happy and I can put down the rest. Drives my coworkers crazy to see me throw away 1/2 a cookie or piece of cake HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight

Molly1978 6 Posted November 14, 2013 SF icecream and SF popsicles have been the only thing that saved me from craziness at night! My nutritionist said not to eat it, and I understand why. I don't have it all the time any more. It's nice to know it's in the freezer though.

Everyone I talk to says that they can't tolerate sweet stuff any more.
