OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I thought that it could be dumping because the Tylenol has high fructose in it. But would that cause diarrhea all day? Won't be taking that again.

I've heard the bouts can last a while. How are you feeling now? Take it as a good sign, you're a dumper, lol. I'm worried I might be one of those who never do. Way too early to tell but I've had squizzed up prunes in juice with yoghurt three times and felt nothing. On the other hand I had a glass of milk last night and felt a wee but queasy.

I'm on day 10 post op and I feel miserable. I wasn't able to get my drain taken out on Friday. The nurse said I still had too much Fluid. Just when the gas pain went away' date=' it came back but worse when i started Protein Shakes. Had several diarrhea episodes and I don't have an appetite. I'm back to clear fluids. The pain in my chest is just depressing. I'm trying to stay positive and remember that I had lapband removal, hiatal repair and the bypass in one surgery. I pray this will be better this week.[/quote']

That sucks pumpkin, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Feel better soon, keep taking your pain killers and sleep sleep sleep when you can :-) Most healing is done when we're asleep.

Sorry to hear pumpkin. I hope you feel better soon! I never had a drain. Felt really good the first few days. I don't see how I'm gonna eat when the thought of food makes me sick! Go to doc on Wed for 1 week follow up. Thanks uk for the replies. I'm hanging in there.

It does sound like dumping. I had my first 'dump' the day after I was home from the hospital. I had a powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shake with milk and drank it fine. Felt a little hunger an hour later and tried another shake. Wasn't even half way through before I started to tell really hot, and sweaty. Then I felt jittery and couldn't sit still. Wasn't expecting to dump on a Protein shake. Not sure if it was the milk or just having too much. My doc said we could take regular Tylenol pills, instead of liquid. Hope you feel better soon!

Harleychic13 try to sip on liquids as much as possible so you don't end up in the hospital for IV fluids. I hope you feel better

I've heard that the first stall often happens around two weeks. I haven't lost any lbs for a few days. However, vie also heard that inches are lost during stalls. That's what keeps me going.

Post op 3 days and feeling great. I still can't believe the difference with this surgery versus my band. This is so much easier! Off meds totally and doc says I can eat some cream of wheat tomorrow!

Wishing you a speedy recovery! So inspiring to know the great possibility of being off meds!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
