OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I'm supposed to go to a concert tomorrow. My husband bought the tickets a long time ago but I'm worried about being able to walk from the parking lot all the way to the seat at 5 days post op. What do you guys think?

Could he drop you off at the entrance and pick you up at the end?

I've been having upper back pain. Do you think it's gas?

It could be but I also noticed upper back pain and realised it was because I was standing, sitting and sleeping differently since the op. Kinda protecting my tummy with my back bent. Just a thought. Now when I feel it, I just lay flat til it goes after a few mins.

I'm at 2 wks and feeling quite different than before. I know my pouch has stepped into a new healed phase. My pouch is more sensitive to quantity, I can tell when I've swallowed to much. My appetite is lacking. I don't want anything, at all. I struggle to get fluids in and have failed 2 days straight to get all Protein in. The thought of puréed food makes me gag, and taking a bite of it makes me vomit. I'm hoping that this to shall pass and it's normal.

Hi all, my surgery was 10/15. Came home on 10/16. All was good. Yesterday I had a massive headache and bought some Tylenol liquid pain reliever. I also tried a tiny bit of yogurt and tiny bit of strained cream Soup. Well , all hell broke loose, I have had diarrhea all day today and have chills. Struggling to get my Water down and the thought of anything else makes me gag. Help!

I know what you mean. I'm on day 10 and the thought of four more days of liquid then two more weeks of slightly thicker liquids then two weeks of purée makes me gag too!

Could you have experienced your first dumping syndrome? It sounds like it. Was there sugar in the liquid pain meds? I've heard someone have the same reaction before.

I'm on day 10 post op and I feel miserable. I wasn't able to get my drain taken out on Friday. The nurse said I still had too much Fluid. Just when the gas pain went away, it came back but worse when i started Protein Shakes. Had several diarrhea episodes and I don't have an appetite. I'm back to clear fluids. The pain in my chest is just depressing. I'm trying to stay positive and remember that I had lapband removal, hiatal repair and the bypass in one surgery. I pray this will be better this week.

I thought that it could be dumping because the Tylenol has high fructose in it. But would that cause diarrhea all day? Won't be taking that again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
