Well calm down that is your first step!! Now let's look at this logically you gained 2lbs - so what!! Does it mean you have failed at post op living - NOPE

Does it mean you are done losing weight - NOPE

Does it mean you have done something wrong - NOPE

More than likely this is either Water weight - or monthly visitor weight. However most people gain a little weight when you advance and add new foods.

Our weight ebbs and flows during this journey. We gain, we lose, we stall. You will lose weight and eventually learn the great art of patience. Our bodies are on their own schedules and trust me they never match up with our minds schedule.

As for things you can eat of purée stage. I had yogurt, Beans, mashed potatoes, cheese, Jello. You want to advance your diet so that you can get to eating normal foods. Check with your NUT and see if they have ideas. You mainly want to make sure when you swallow the food it is finely chewed up.

Finally stay off the scale for a few days and you will be amazed that the silly number has gone back down. Good luck!!

I really loved fat free refried Beans when I was in puréed phase- I'd mix in salsa or sour cream in it. Sometimes I'd add cheese too. Soups- you can add Protein powder to them too. Pudding' date=' yogurt, no sugar added apple sauce Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk[/quote']

Thanks a lot I'm going to try the refried Beans with some low fat sour cream

It is normal to feel that way.

Try to figure out other ways to measure your loss. For example I measured my loss by how much of my toes I could see in the shower. My toes were non-existent before surgery and now I see my ankles. Also come up with a goal list. Things you want to achieve post op. When you reach a goal mark it off and think of another.

Also remember the scale is just a silly machine with numbers and the real success is how you feel and gaining a healthy life!

Refried Beans were a mainstay for me - and still are. the laughing cow chipotle fresco flavor and some taco sauce with them - yummy. Guacamole even makes it better. Greek yogurt. Lots of good suggestions in previous posts. Not in my pureed stage - but soft foods - I ate tons of tuna and chicken salad style stuff.

The advice on staying away from the scale for a while is good too. It makes me crazy if I get on it everyday or every few days. Or - I hate to admit- multiple times a day. It is crazy to me how there can be a 2 or 3 pound difference depending on what time of day i get on. That could drive anyone nuts!

Courtesy of eggface. Make sure you do it in the oven, you want it crusty and bubbly!

It's like REAL food when you're on purée. My son (8 at the time) would steal it when I made it. eventually I started makin the ricotta bake for me and boiling spaghetti noodles for him to eat with it, made everyone happy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
