Getting sick at work?

Recommended Posts

I work as a receptionist/ human resources clerk for a busy company and am in a fairly high traveled area if the business. I was wondering how sick anyone got after surgery and did it effect your job?

I'm pre-op and just concerned how I will handle this aspect of the surgery. Is there anything special I can do to prevent from having to run down the hallway to the bathrooms all the time?

If you follow protocol about portions, type of food, chewing, etc, and barring complications, you shouldn't get sick too often. Be sure to chew, chew, chew, and don't eat anything you shouldn't. Watch portions and stop way before you're "full". Stick to familiar, safe foods at work and don't go back too soon. Good luck...you got this!

This good advice. The two times I got sick at work were when I tried new foods. I always have 'safe' foods at work and only introduce new foods at home.

At 7 months post, I haven't been sick. Guess it isn't an issue for everyone (yay!). As mentioned above, I would use caution if adding new foods while at work, just to be safe!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
