Recommendation on Vitamins?

Recommended Posts

Can someone give me advice on what multi Vitamin to invest in? I originally thought I would just go with the viactive Gummy chews but the nutritionist thinks they will get stuck so I need to find another option. I am worried because I really hate that chalky/grainy texture in my mouth. I am already dreading it and I don't have surgery scheduled until March 20th. Someone please help.

I buy liquid Vitamins from Sams Club called Glacial Milk. You can also buy them online. They have all the nutrients and then a lot of extras. You can look at glacialmok.net

Here is a little of what they have in it:

ITC began with a 60% base of Aloe Vera, Mangosteen, Acai berry, Noni juice and Pomegranate. We then added 77 Plant Source Ionic Major and Trace Minerals, 10 Fortified Minerals, 16 Vitamins & Nutrients, 18 Amino Acids and 3 Essential Fatty Acids. These are highly absorbable ingredients in one great tasting product suited for the whole family.

I buy Liquid Health Daily Multiple. I usually mix it into juice or Crystal Light, but it tastes good on it's own. It costs about $25-30, but it's a month supply, so I think it is worth it. Good luck with your decision.

I got the Centrum chewables, they're fine. But once this bottle is gone, I'll be going back to the Ladies Vitamins I buy from Walmart that i've been taking for two years. You probably won't have any trouble swallowing pills post surgery. As a matter of fact, I was on percocet IN the hospital, and I had to swallow those whole.

I take the following:

Vitamin Shoppe Ultimate Woman w/ Iron Multivitamin

Vitamin Shoppe Biotin 5mg

Ultra Omegas DHA/EPA (Fish Oil)

Cranberry

I originally tried the Centrum liquid.. the taste was OK but it had that nasty Vitamin smell which I couldn't get past as I was trying to take it. My current Multi-Vitamin is a horse pill but I've had no problem getting it down. I've got another fill scheduled for tomorrow so we'll see how it goes on Wednesday. By the way, if you find that your pills are tough to get down, I found that room temperature Water is much better to use than cold Water.< /p>

A trick I learned from another bandster is to drink a glass of COLD COLD water 5 minutes before I eat if I happen to be ravenous or around food that's not so good for you. It makes my band feel tighter and I definitely walk away feeling good.

I tried

I like the Source of Life liquid, it has lots of good stuff. Doesn't taste too terrible, I can handle it. They have it at Fred Meyer stores, or online. I also take a fish oil pill but once I start getting fills I bet I won;t be able to 'cuz they are kinda big. The fish oil pills I take are from Trader Joes and are the deodorized ones. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
