Did I mess up?

Recommended Posts

Ok i was banded 2/16 everything went well no real side effect except my appetite was really gone it has been difficult for me to get my Proteins in and liquids. Yesterday was day 11 post op and I was finally starting to feel hungry I kinda of ignored it all day and continue my Protein Shakes and fluids. I took my son to a B-day party and was good didn't eat anything. But on the way home I stopped and got a bowl of cream of crab Soup. I was able to get the entire bowl down. I did not eat the lumps of crab meat for fear it my have come back up. But was this too much and the wrong thing to finally eat. My Dr. suggest a Protein liquid diet for 10 days post op and then move to mushies. Was this a wrong selection for the mushies stage. Again nothing happen after I ate it but I am concern that the choice and portion may have been wrong. I didn't feel stuffed after I ate either. Another question can I have oatmeal at the mushies stage because I am feeling a little hungry this morning. Please help! Another thing how do you attach the weight scale from ticketfactory to your post. I know its a lot for a Sunday morning but thanks :-)

No, you certainly didn't mess up! I was a nervous freak about this in the beginning and my doc set me straight. He said as long as you don't eat until "stuffed" and the food was nutritious then you're fine.

Cream of Crab Soup probably had a lot of calories (cream) but other than that it beats the heck out of ice cream or something ridiculous!! Yes, I ate a lot of oatmeal in my mushie's stage. Oatmeal is great for you...just eat the kind you cook on the stove. The pre-packaged stuff has too much sugar and isn't usually as nutritious.

I also ate vegetarian refried Beans a lot. Cream of Wheat, sugar-free pudding, oatmeal, refried Beans, chilli, low fat cottage and ricotta cheese, low fat yogurt, etc. these things were all foods I ate during mushies.

Oatmeal and refried beans were the two foods that made me feel satisfied the most. They stick to your ribs and make you feel like you've actually eaten!

I think you're doing great and have not done anything "wrong" at all!

Good luck and keep us posted!

You did great! You didn't mess anything up at all. And actually you might be surprised that there was probably even some protien in that Soup  One of the things I did on mushies was make cream soup with milk a little butter and a little flour, then I melted in cheese and also added a beaten egg to add more protien. So a basic white sauce with some garlic and cheese +1 egg. Another thing I did that made me really stay satisfied for a long time was I put refried Beans and a little cottage cheese in the blender and pureed it, then added some taco seasoning, yum. My husband thought I was nuts but oh well :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
