I am 9 days post op and am just now feeling good. Am on full liquids for another week and then off to soft foods. I am so happy it is over but really am looking forward to eating again! I am actually craving cottage cheese! I think I am just tired of sweet Protein drinks! Anyways, looking forward to this journey

It is amazing all the different diets the surgeons' but us on. My surgery was 9/11 and I was allowed to do cottage cheese, yogurt, refried Beans, sf pudding on day four and today I am to start with soft boiled eggs or poached eggs. food does look good, but I'm not hungry and trying to even get the above in is almost impossible for me. Just trying to get in all the fluids first. Agree the Protein Drinks are getting rather old. But we can look forward to eating somewhat normal down the road, just not as much.

Oldandyoung I agree with you! I have read books and blogs and, of course, my own post op instructions. There is such a large variance! I think my surgeon is on the conservative side, yet I am supposed to be on a 'normal' diet at 4 weeks. Can't imagine! I only have 3 more days before cottage cheese and soft boiled eggs. Am looking forward to something different. Even if only a few bites.

I agree, it is interesting the different diets we are all on. Supposedly, at 4 weeks I should be on a regular rny diet. Had fish yesterday with no issues. Am looking forward to continue hearing how everybody is doing throughout this experience!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
