Horrible aching in my belly

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden I just got this bad aching/cramping feeling in my belly, under my breasts. It's all way across, left to right. I only had Soup and some crackers for lunch, about an hour ago. I had the same soup yesterday and I was fine with it. Anyone know what might be causing it?

Hot flash AND chills. And achy pain. Is this what dumping is?

Give your doc a call - you might need your gallbladder out.

Call your doctor. I had similar symptoms for a while and downplayed them. Turned out I had an abdominal hernia and needed emergency surgery. Only your doctor can diagnose.

I'm 7 months out. It went away after an hour or so and just left me with that slightly achy feeling you get after pain goes away. I will call if it happens again though. I can best describe it as really bad period cramps, but right under your ribs.

I had my one and only gallbladder attack over a year ago. It was bad enough to go to the emergency room and lasted 6-8 hours. It was pure hell. The pain radiated across my upper abdomen just below my ribs but stronger on the right side. You should check with your doctor - gallbladder pain can be pretty severe. Or it could be something else - or something totally harmless.

I've known for 2 1/2 years that I have gallstones. I've only had the one attack but I feel like it's a ticking time bomb and it's just a matter of time until it happens again. I think I'll be having my gall bladder removed this coming Jan or Feb. There's nothing else to do in winter anyway...

I had the same pain... turned out to be my gallbladder, I had to go back under the knife 8 wks after RNY to have the GB removed. Call you surgeon right away... you don't want another attack. The stones can get caught in a duct and that is MAJOR surgery to remove.

I looked up the symptoms for a gallbladder attack and it doesn't sound anything like what I had. If it comes back again though I will call the doc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
