I am 5 months post op. I am wondering if it is possible to drink too much Water every day. I get at least 100oz or more a day. Is this ok or too much? Some mornings I wake up with swollen hands and arms and im wondering if it is from so much water.

Thanks for your help!

So....in a normal healthy body it's ALMOST impossible to drink too much Water. Your body uses what it needs and the rest gets filtered through (there are a few odd exceptions to this though and some people do have to limit their Water intake). If you're retaining Fluid you need to hit up your healthcare providers and see what's up. Some people just hold more Fluid, it is normal for them. Before anyone makes that determination they need to check you out and make sure there's nothing else going on!

You actually CAN overhydrate your body and cause a sodium deficiency. I doubt that's the case with only drinking about 100oz a day, but if you have a very low sodium diet, then it is possible. You do need sodium in your diet.

I don't see how I could be retaining Fluid cuz I pee all day and night! Guess I'll bring it up with doctor when I see him next month. thanks for the response.

That might explain the Fluid retention!

When can we eat pickles? How about lemons? I love them both!

Heya

Suspect i am also having too much salt. It is my only indulgence i feel! Making the rigid rules a bit more bearable by adding salt and pepper to my food. Especially cottage cheese with cracker, it just becomes nice and edible then.

Hmm what is the drawback to too much salt??

I am getting enough liquid in i think, at least 2 liters.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
