Im four months post op and I want a baby so bad. Fertility issues were one of the reasons I chose to have gastric bypass...is it to soon for me to try?

Pretty sure your doc would say yes, it"s too soon. Focus on yourself and becoming the healthiest that you can possibly be. The first year post-op with an RNY is very stressful to both your body and mind. you need this time to heal and be healthy, don't rush it.

Also at this early stage you may have trouble getting enough nutrients for both you and a developing baby. I'm almost four months post-op and can barely eat what I need for myself. And early pregnancy morning sickness can make it much harder to eat. Definitely talk to your doc for the best time to start trying. You will want the best possible outcome for yourself and your baby. :-)

Im almost 10 months post op and 12 weeks pregnant. Its been a long 8 weeks. I'm 30 pounds from my goal but this hasn't been easy. I'd recommend waiting at least 12 months so you can get yourself figured out cause this can make things worse. Those 6 weeks I couldn't eat without getting sick, couldn't drink without getting sick, had nausea 24/7, had horrible fatigue and honestly wished someone would have killed me I was so miserable. Im extremely happy and blessed but its been very hard.

I know exactly how you are feeling cause I did the surgery for the same reason. Waiting a little while longer will be the best. Kinda wish I did but apparently someone had a different path for us. Message me if you'd like to talk. Good luck and it will happen.

I am 12 months out now and want a baby as well. I had a miscarriage that was the reason I even considered rny I was so depressed that my weight caused me to lose a baby. I have a awesome 7 year old that I had to take med to have because of infertility and I really would love to have one more. My periods are back to normal and I feel great but my doctor says I have to wait until 18 months which I know is not to far away but I would love to try now . I am not getting any younger lol. Congrats to all you preggers ladies out there please keep sharing your stories it gives me so much hope for my own !

I can sympathize. My baby fever is bad. Seeing how much joy my baby is bringing me, makes me want another three now. Buuuuut, no can do.

I absolutely refuse to get pregnant for the first year and a half post-op. My surgeon gave me one year to adjust and heal from WLS, I voluntarily prolonged it to one year and a half.

Being pregnant is ALL about the baby and his/her healthy development in the uterus. I am solely responsible to keep that baby alive and 100% healthy.

Please, wAit. Focus on yourself and getting adjusted to your new lifestyle. It will not be easy. Give yourself time to heal and get used to your new nutrition.

Please wait. I had surgery on 1/28 and conceived around 2/14. The first 2 trimesters were really hard. Give your body and mind time to get adjusted to the surgery, it's limits and how everything works before shocking your system with trying to grow and maintain another life. I am truly blessed to be having a baby but if I had a choice, I would have preferred to wait at a minimum maybe a year post op to get pregnant. Concentrate on yourself and become the healthiest woman you can be so that when you do get pregnant, the baby and will be able to enjoy the special time of being pregnant.

I got GP because I have been struggling with infertility for 3 years (IVF, miscarriages). I am SO eager to get pregnant. But, I know I need to wait. Besides, I want to be one of those cute little pregnant women!!

Trust me, it will be worth it to wait. Im 10 months post op and 15 weeks pregnant and I understand why they wanted us to wait 12-18 months. This hasn't been easy at all but I'll never regret it. I too dealt with infertility for years and years so I totally understand your feelings. Focus on your weight loss and before you know it you'll hit your year mark. It goes by fast.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
