Just curious, I remember my nutritionist said I can have 8oz once a day, however when? I'm almost 3 weeks post op.

I was served Decaf in the hospital-post op. I drink it every day and mix with my Protein (chocolate-which makes it taste like a mocha) some days I nix decaf and regular. :)

Oh great thanks so much. I think one sip will give my body that boost :)

I was a daily coffee drinker pre op and my doc told me I was ok to drink coffee post op. I drink it caffeinated with sf French vanilla and Splenda and I tolerate it just fine.

Did you know why? I think I better wait until Monday to double check with my nutritionist. Thank you.

I was told I could drink caffienated or Decaf and I have been drinking arizona diet iced tea (with caffeine) everyday since i got home from the hospital...whats up with the caffiene anyway...someone said it acts as a diuretic, but not for me...

I was told not anything with caffeine. The reason us that caffeine actually pulls fluids from your body and we are already struggling to keep hydrated. Your body doesn't need caffeine do why put something in it that will only harm you. I was a caffeine freak pre op. I occasionally mix a bit of instant Decaf in with my chocolate Protein now and that's it.

Preop weight 389 current weight 314...that's 75 lbs lost since RNY 6/11/13

I was told no coffee and only Decaf tea. It's a diuretic and is irritating to the healing pouch. So I quit my coffee two months before surgery and something amazing happened - I started sleeping through the night! I have had trouble sleeping for 27 YEARS. I may never drink it again. :-)

wonder why so many doctors are different?? My doc wont let me have salad and other people on here are eating it...now the conflict with Decaf vs caffeine?? WTH....wish there was a universal weight loss surgery rule book...lol

So here's my theory. My nutritionist said no more Pasta, potatoes, fruit, etc forever. But the reason I had the surgery was for diabetes, I wasn't necessarily obese but I couldn't get my blood sugar under control. So I think my doc was a little more lax with me than he would be a morbidly obese patient.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
