NancySmiles 2 Posted August 26, 2004 ...I will join the ranks of the "banded" and I am so excited...yet scared a little at the same time.....I have fought for this surgery and now it's finally coming true....I know it's not MAGIC....but it will finally give me the chance to be healthy again!! I turned 50 on the 24th and it's the BEST birthday gift I could have ever received! I attended a Lap Band Support Group meeting last night for the first time and so glad I did. I got to hear first hand all sides of the experience....any tips from you now that you've gone through this??? Nancy

Janie Jackson 0 Posted August 26, 2004 Congratulations... I am 54 years old and I think its harder to loose after 50, but if you drink all of your Water and get all your Protein in you should do great. My weight comes off slowly but thats o.k. I am considering this as a journey ans slow is fine. Good Luck...Janie

whippledaddy 5 Posted August 27, 2004 Nancy, you couldn't come to a better place. I've been hanging out here since I made this decision, and it's great. You'll meet so many wonderful people, with such touching stories to tell. You'll meet the courageous and the hilarious. You'll laugh here. You'll cry here. You'll kiss your cares goodbye here. If you're like me you'll come here often in the next few weeks, especially in those sleepless nights when you both fear and embrace the future. Hope to see ya around in here, fellow Michigander (Michiganian?) I never know which. Good luck.
Alexandra 55 Posted August 27, 2004 Nancy, congratulations on your decision and welcome to the board!! These next few weeks will find you nervous, giddy, scared, and inspired in turn. Just try to relax as much as possible and when the urge comes to binge, remember that you will be able to eat whatever it is after surgery, too. Nice to meet you!!
