Ammariehs mommy 150 Posted September 13, 2013 I was 484 and my surgeon wants me under 450. So I had to loose34 pounds before he would see me for my second appointment. Every doctor is different. Mine just said he didn't feel comfortable doing the surgery with me over 450.
PrettyMe 18 Posted September 13, 2013 My surgeon never told me to lose any weight..my highest was 333 when i went in for Surgery i was 312..so i did end up losing 21 lbs...and that was just on my pre op diet...just depends on your surgeon.
gomekast 559 Posted September 13, 2013 My Dr doesn't require any weight loss before surgery. But there is a pre op diet I have to do. 1 sonya139 reacted to this

sonya139 5 Posted September 15, 2013 It depends on your insurance requirements. For my insurance I didn't have to lose any weight.
sashalk 9 Posted September 16, 2013 Our nutritionist kept saying that we needed to loose 10% of our starting weight. But my surgeon wasn't as hard set on an amount. I started this journey about 3 months back and have gone from 240 to 218 so far, and my surgery date is the 25th of September. So i have 2 more to go. PrettyMe 18 Posted September 17, 2013 Although my surgeon didnt give me a set amount to lose...I just felt the more weight I lost the easier and smoother my surgery would go. And good thing I did lose 20lbs, on my surgery day my surgeon came in..looked and felt on my belly and said "oh this is going to be easy, you have a small belly" lmao I was thinking..geese! Me? A small belly?! Lol thought it was funny.. that was the first lol
DeeMotionalEater 4 Posted September 17, 2013 I'm attending my first consultation next week which consists of a two hour nutrition class.... Is there a certain time limit they give you to lose the weight? That seems stressful .... By the way, I'm new here, how do I start a new thread? I'm signed in but still can't figure it out Thanks! I guess that's how he also weeds out people who aren't serious about the surgery. He sees a lot of people and gives them a few guide lines to follow and if yo can do it you just never come back. Are you on a desk top or on the app? On the desk top I go to forums and just pick a topic then start a new topic. I think from the app you have to go online through it and kind of do the same thing. I have an iPad and I just go through the app to get online. I actually use the first message I got from the administrator and click the edit profile link and go to forum from there. 1 DeeMotionalEater reacted to this
