anyone juicing?

Recommended Posts

I've recently become interested in juicing. I know we don't get the Fiber when we juice, but I feel like I need the nutrients from real food, not just Vitamins. Thoughts anyone?

Eat the fruit. Then you get both. I eat far more fruit then I used to. mayo clinic says we need 8-10 serving of fruits and veggies per day. My daughter lives on fruits and Proteins primarily and is slim slim slim. I think there is something to it.

I can eat so little, I'm getting very few nutrients. I would primarily juice veggies. Cant eat a lot of those, either. There are great recipes out there that include superfoods like kale, beet, carrot, and Tomato. I guess I'll call my nut.

Because I couldn't even stomach the Vitamins my doc suggested Ensure Clear. They have a blueberry pomegranate that I've been able to choke down half a 10oz bottle a day. Tons of Proteins and vitamins. It made me feel so much better.

You can always use a blender instead of a juicer. Then the fiber will still be there.

Hi there.

Checking in from the Netherlands. Had my GBP a week ago and am working my way up to halfliquid and then on to 'regular' food.

I make smoothies like: banana with spinach (one of those frozen), sesame seeds and some skim yoghurt. Or mixed unsweetened frozen fruit with or without the spinach, yoghurt and some muesli. All of this in the blender and tadaaaa.

Be careful not to use too much ingredients, or share a healthy snack with family members. Throwing away is such a waste.

Last night I made a mix of potatoes and carrots and mashed it to a smoooooth bite. About 2 tablespoons full. It went down really well.

Well, so far my first contribution here. Hope to be back often and to hear from people here.

On my way to a healthier, lighter life. ;-)

Toodels,

Milu

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
