Hi Marissa

I got banded 2/8. Lost 16 lbs after surgery with the first week. However, I have only lost a lb this last week. Pretty hard to watch when the week before I was losing daily. So, I am in the same boat. I thought about going back on the full liquids for a little while with a mushy meal here or there. My doc said it is okay for me to go to regular food because I tried stuff and had no problems. Yesterday I had an omelet for Breakfast with hash browns. lunch bowl of onion Soup and baked potatoe, and dinner lasagna and a piece of bread. I had no problems. The big difference, I only ate a fraction of what I used to eat and was very satisfied.

I am wondering the same thing..if others have had the same problem with the weight slowing dramatically.

:)

After dieting every chance I got, NOT worrying about weight loss during the healing phase seemed stupid, but I did it. Everything that I gained during that period was lost within a week of my first fill.

Stick to the rules, but if you are actually HUNGRY eat something. Then STOP when your aren't hungry. This is the time to start learning the rules and making them second nature. The hardest part for both me and my hubby was NOT drinking while we eat. Practice that part. the weight will come offf, but you have to learn the rules to make your band the most effective tool that it can be.

The first thing -- calm down. :)

During your first 2, 3, maybe even 4 weeks post-op your carb count is probably going to be low. So - long story short - your body has released a lot more Fluid than it likes to. As your body moves out of ketosis, it will start to store the Fluid back up. It's a fairly safe rule of thumb to figure that of whatever weight you lose during the first 5 - 6 weeks post-op, roughly 50% of it is Water weight that you may (and sometimes may not) gain back.

"Weight" is not the same thing as "fat". This is very important to keep in mind. Gaining weight does not mean you're any fatter, and losing weight does not mean you have any less fat.

MOST people experience sudden slow downs in weightloss. It's part of the deal, and why we're encouraged to focus on a long-term average of 1 - 2 lbs per week. Just about the only time there's an exception to that, you'll find it's a guy.

Marissa I find that working out before I go to work is so helpful in making me get it done. I know I will be too tired once I get home but if I do it right away then I get it out of the way and it actually gives me a lot of energy for the day.

Your stomach has been swollen oost surgery. Now it's not and you ahve no restriction. So you're eating. After your first fill, you may be lucky and start to lose again. Or your dry band may absorb the liquid and you won't be restricted. Once you are filled to your sweet spot, it will be a different story.

I agree Marrissa. Take things easy right now, and worry about getting your body back to being healed. The rest will follow! Get yourself into good habits now so that they just become a general lifestyle!

I got banded in May, and didnt start losing until OCTOBER. I was massively depressed, had no restriction and pretty m uch ate what I want, until I finally started to get consistent fills and stuff. Since October im down 50. It will happen, just be patient!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
