requirements to get reconstruction surgery

Recommended Posts

I live in pa and have capital blue cross. Im gonna be 8 months post op this month and I know I have to be atleast 18 months out for surgery but im curious if there are other requirements. Do we need to lose a certain amount of weight first? Just looking for some info. Thanks in advance

My best advice is to document everything with your PCM. Most insurances want proof that after massive weight loss, you have a lot of loose skin that causes other major problems (infections, severe rash, etc).

I believe most surgeon require 18 months to maintain weight lost before having any kind of plastic surgery. About the insurance company covering any of it. I wouldn't know. There are others here that did have insurance cover plastic surgery. Hopefully someone will reply to you soon,
