Help Im exhausted

Recommended Posts

Your body is trying to tell you something. It needs sleep to heal. You just had major surgery. Your body will get stronger - just give it time to heal!

I slept all the time too. For like three weeks after I HAD to take a long afternoon nap, like 3 hours. I'm fine now. Our bodies just needed that rest to heal.

It will get better, honest. I felt exhausted too. All of a sudden you snap back. Make sure that you are getting in your Protein and Vitamins

I am 5 weeks out and just now feeling like my old self. I went back to work last week and was fine but so tired when I got home. If I am home I still will nap at times. I was told to expect to be 'recovered' at 6 weeks and I think that will be accurate. Either way, it just takes time. Good luck!

It took me about 4 or 5 weeks before I was better energy wise. I slept a LOT until then! Make sure you are getting enough calories, Protein and taking your Vitamins or that will make you weak longer.

I was so exhausted the first few weeks that I slept all night and took long naps in the afternoons. I was still tired easily after that and would go to sleep after dinner every night. I'm nearly 5 months out (on the 30th it'll be 5 months) and I just got a real energy boost in past 3 weeks. Now I'm ready to go all the time. sleep normal hours and don't really need naps anymore.

I'm almost 5 months out and I am still constantly exhausted. At this point, even breathing is tiering. My only advice is lots of sleep. Give your body and mind a rest.

Protein, protein, protein. If you don't have enough you will be tired. You MUST get enough protein or this will not go well fir you. Use shakes, bars, food, whatever it takes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
