What did you do a day before surgery?

Recommended Posts

My surgery was on a monday and I spent the whole sunday cleaning, did all the laundry and made food for my husband for the week. Finished packing my bag and went over a list of things my hubby would have to do while I was in the hospital.

For the people who ate stuff....were you on an all liquid diet then took the day off?

I was only on liquids the day before surgery. No 2 weeks for me and I had no bowel prep. ;)

The day before I did housework and laundry. I was exhausted when I went to bed but was so excited that I was up ALL night! When I got to the hospital I was so tired that I kept falling asleep during all of the preparations the nurses were doing.

I had my surgery 2 hours away from where I lived, reason why I decided to book a room with the hospital hotel. I had to do the mag flush and being on the road was the last thing I needed.

So yeah, I used those 24hrs before surgery to relax. Glad I did so. Resting my mind and body before such a major surgery helped a lot.

It was Easter Sunday, my surgeon told me to eat light and take the laxative @ 6 pm. I stayed home all day just tinkering around the house, I did not want to chance it having Easter dinner with my family. I had to be in the hospital @ 6 a.m. so I went to bed early. It was a quiet and relazing day for me.

I worked a half day, just to be busy. Then I scheduled a mani/pedi for the afternoon. That evening was all about the cleansing. They told me it would only take an hour or two, but four hours later I was still running to the bathroom! Was totally worth it!!

My surgery was on a Monday. I went to church Sunday and watched the Hallmark and Lifetime channel movies the day before. Got up early and went to the hospital Monday morning at 5:30am for the surgery! Nothing adventuresome. Now I did have a big dinner the day before my liver shrink diet! I started my diet on a Monday and it was Easter Sunday the day before. I had a huge meal!! Lol. Glad to day I did excellent on the liver shrink diet and lost 16 pounds. I'm now 21 weeks out today and I've lost a total of 76.5 pounds! Good Luck!

Three days preop. I start the clear liquid tomorrow.... I have been doing pretty well on the 6 day liquid protein' date=' though I did crack on Friday and ate a can of low fat mushroom Soup, drank a bunch of juice, and ate one crouton... Hope that won't be an issue...[/quote']

You made me chuckle...I had to reread your post. You wrote, 'I did crack on Friday' I immediately envisioned the rock form of cocaine and you smoking a crack pipe. I even wondered why get the surgery since the crack gonna kill you soon. I needed a good laugh! Good luck with your surgery

After I wrote it and hit send, I read the same thing too! I promise... No crack here. But that one crouton did taste pretty darn great. B-) <note to self, reread before you hit send.>

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
