November surgeries?

Recommended Posts

I'm new here. I just submitted all my preop testing to insurance on Thursday, and am waiting on an answer. So pending the approval, I am guessing and hoping to be a November surgery!!!

@Judyr - is your surgery scheduled for Fountain Valley hospital or Orange Coast? I'm excited but so nervous too....

I'm going to Fountain Valley. I don't have a time yet. Still have 2 more specialists and blood work to do. Then see surgeon on the 1st and pre-op nurse. Hopefully, I will get final details again.

I was scheduled for Oct 11 but my Dr's wife went into labor. So now I'm scheduled for Nov 11. I just hope I'm feeling good enough for Black Friday. Lol

Since submitting everything to insurance, I feel super nervous. I feel like I did with my pregnancies. Reading lots of articles, reading other people's advise, buying special things to prepare, excited by the idea of being comfortable with my body again, and doing a lot of day dreaming, and anxious for the special day! I can not wait! Seriously, waiting for this approval is like making me too giddy, like a kid on Christmas Eve. I want this so bad! I can't wait.

I felt the same way...once approved full panic mode happened. ..but thinking of wearing a bathing suit and shorts and trying on wedding dresses for my vow renewal makes all that fear disappear. .prayers you hear back soon from the insurance company and get your date :)

Dont be nervous go into this very positive and the most positive results will be your outcome. Enjoy the process more its a beginning of a whole new life for you. And all of us really. I feel very extremely fortunate that my surgeon and his whole team have done everything for me. Before I even started out all the labs and what not they sent my referral from my PCP and got my approval and now monday I do my upper endoscopy then i get my surgery date. Im super excited! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
