Dumping? (TMI sorry) I gotta know

Recommended Posts

Now that makes a lot of sense. OJ or AJ to get the sugar up' date=' Peanut Butter toast to level it out. And even better yet, eat the toast before you dump. I was hoping you'd respond to my post!

I've dumped on grapes twice. "Wow those are good" and a couple of hours later bam.

Thanks so much SoccerMomma![/quote']

But they're the best grapes ever!!! So sweet and crunchy, hence the dumping....there's a ziplock full in the fridge calling me right now but I'm waiting to eat thenm with my Protein laden lunch so they don't kill me....but I want em bad!!!!

Follow up: saw my surgeon today for 6 month follow-up. He said more than likely what happened to me WAS dumping. (Glad to hear that!). Resolution? (Duh) don't eat sugar! He was so happy about my good lab results and weight loss. Overall, a very good report! Thank you all for your help. And, DL, for the info on early and late dumping. No mas sugar for me. None. No longer even tempted.

honestly believe it was grapes that had triggered my newest wave of diarrhea Although my surgeon did not believe my diarrhea was the effect of dumping. After reading articles the great and knowledgable DL sent me I truly believe it was the sugar in fruit that was making me sick. One of those articles mentioned the sugar called sorbitol and the effects it can have on RNY patients. I have stayed away from most fruit the last month and with the help of some medication I am not having the diarrhea issues I had been having.

Trust me it has been hard at times because those grapes were SOOOO good!

I haven't tested it yet but I suspect that I would be fine with four or five grapes. Anything over that seems to be asking for trouble.

Music, I don't know about "great and wise" but it's great to hear that you got the tract back on track!! Lol!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
