When did you feel hungry again?

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks out and have felt zero hunger since the surgery. I am scheduling meals just to make sure I eat. I know everyone is different but when can I expect to feel hungry again. Or I guess a better way to ask it is when did you first experience hunger post op?

I think I was about 3 months when I started having a weird "hollow" feeling. Now at 4months I feel hunger again. Never as strong as before of course but its returned. I often would forget also in the early stages and then it's was more of the I just was blah on food.

I'm a year out and I still don't feel real hunger. I just have set eating times.

I don't feel hunger yet (three months out). I'm not missing it either. I could be very happy the rest of my life without it. So nice not to be controlled by hunger! I feel totally indifferent about food and am finally eating for fuel. I plan what and when and how much to eat and I follow the plan. It's liberating! And I can watch other people eat things I used to and not really care. I hope it lasts a long, long time! :-)

Im 4 months out and feel hunger occasionally. Not even every day. I basically eat because I know I need to. When I do feel hunger, nothing appeals to me so I usually just have a greek yogurt. Coming from someone who used to eat all day, it is honesty the weirdest thing!

At 14 months post op my hunger pains have changed. I can still go all day without eating because and not even think about it. It is more of an empty feeling in my tummy, but if I want to I can ignore it. If that makes any sense.

I am a little over 4 months out and as someone stated above the only hunger I ever really feel is that hallow feeling.. not the same as hunger. Nor do I feel full ever.

I still measure and eat, what and when, I am suppose to.

Its so weird how everyone is different!

im five years post op...+ can honestly say I have not been "hungry" once (nor have I heard my stomach growl/felt a rumble).

i call the feeling which I now think of as me hungry, "empty". which I guess is that "hollow" feeling y'all are mentioning. to this day, 5 years out, I can be caught saying (out loud) "I think I am empty". kind of feel like a gas tank.

Hollow is a great way to describe it!!! I started just getting the funny empty feeling around 7-8 weeks then occasionally getting a true hungry feeling around 3 months. I eat Breakfast while driving to work (or drink breakfast) around 7:30, without fail around 11:00-11:30 I start feeling a little hungry. The rest of the time it's just the weird hollow feeling if I go more than 4ish hours without eating. I have a couple times gotten the ravenously hungry feeling....typically when I've been super active and haven't eaten in too long....the awesome thing is 4 or 5 good bites and ravenous is gone! No more stuffing my face and still feel like I'm starving!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
