Oh Vicki!!!

You are right where YOU need to be. Stalls are normal and a part of the journey. I know you don't want to hear it but don't compare your self to others - Blah blah blah right

Ok girlfriend time to get real - why are you stressing? Before surgery could you lose 17lbs in a month? I am guessing the answer is no.

You just had major surgery! Your brain is so pissed at you right now!!! Think about it for your life you turned to food to Celebrate, to comfort, to live, to enjoy..... You are now standing up and saying no more. I am going to eat to provide fuel for my body. This is my body and I choose to be healthy!!

Your brain however remembers the good ole days. When you ate what it wanted you to eat. What made it feel better. How many times in the past did you give up on diets when you had a stall? How many times did you stop because you did not see results. I hope you see where I am going with this.

I have said it before our brains throw temper tantrums during our journey. At 14 months I am just now learning the true signs and symptoms of a brain tantrum.

YOUR brain is conditioned to stall and show no loss to get what it wants. I am willing to bet that your body is still losing inches during this time.

You are not broken or never going to lose the weight - you are an individual and will lose the weight like you are supposed to. No more no less!

Stay on track and keep your chin up.

It's true! I have found myself thinking every couple weeks when the weight loss slows down that I'm failing, or everyone is losing like crazy! But sometimes I take a deep breath and a step back and I realize I am losing too. We are all worth it and will succeed. The first month I "only" lost 16 lbs, others seemed to be losing a lb a day so I felt so behind. I will be three months out sept 19 th and there are others that has surgery around the same time I did like within a day or two that have lost 50 lbs already. Today I have 37 , I would love to be at 50 for my 3 month post op but it doesn't look like its going to happen. I know exactly how you feel but I have come to realize and accept I can compare myself to them all I want but it's not going to make me loose any faster and it will only make me miserable! Hang in there! We made the right choice and it will pay off!

It took me a year to lose 75#'s I am disabled and can't walk so I don't burn calories very fast. I averaged only about 14 lbs every 3 months. However I lost 75 #'s in a year! I didn't break any speed records. But I lost. You will lose too. Don't lose heart.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
