not logging food and still successful long term?

Recommended Posts

I went for 13 months without doing a food log. I had good success. Lost all my weight and reached goal. I began logging my food because I was trying to figure out what was causing some diarrhea I have been having since the beginning of my surgery. DL suggested a log to figure out trigger food for me. Once I started I did very well and enjoyed the control and knowledge logging gives you. I could look at of paper my Protein amount.

Yes, I am successfully losing weight without logging my daily food intake. I am the first to admit, I am not good at keeping up with this stuff. Bores me to death. I am speaking for myself only!

I do believe logging your food is a very useful tool to maintaining a successful long term weight loss.

Once I pass my "honeymoon phase", I have no doubt, I'll have to learn to log my food intake. I refuse to take my gift for granted.

Logging is a tool. There are many tools for success. Measuring, eating slowly, putting the fork down between bites, 35 chews, no snacking, no drinking with meals, stopping when full, eating Protein first. The log is a concrete record of what you eat. I had stopped logging and am now trying to get back to using my fitness pal. I remind myself of these tools for success. We need them to have long term success IMHO.

I think it's great that seemingly more and more folks are recognizing logging for exactly what it is - a tool. A very powerful one. With benefits that, in my opinion, far outweigh the effort required to maintain the log. Tools are not synonymous with "easy". But they are synonymous with "easier". Just like the surgery. Surgery doesn't make losing weight "easy", just "easier". The more tools you have in your arsenal, the easier it is to reach, and then maintain your goals. Simple as that.

I don't find it time consuming to keep my log. I plan my meals every morning so I also take a couple minutes to enter what I planned then. In the evening I review and adjust it if I deviated from the plan. Maybe five minutes, tops, to log each day. Not really a time-consuming chore! :-)

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday Kinsse - I was having some problems myself! Slowtogo is thinking the problem may be solved now. Let us know if you're still having problems and have a great day!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
