Foam is very natural its because your stomach doesn't really have a lot of food to come back up. There's really nothing there.

I meant there's really nothing in your stomach. Not that you having the foamies isn't a big deal.

Visited with him on Friday and he said its been only 3 wks and it will go away. Because of this I have a follow up appt with him in 2 wks. The thought of food makes me nauseous and I never thought that would happen in a million years.

I would suggest calling him again and ask him for meds to help with the nausea. You have to eat and you need to drink.

It does ease up. I had this a LOT the first few months. Not so much now.

My whole first month everything smelled strange and tasted bad. Even if I found something I could eat I could only eat it a couple times before it turned my stomach. Soups were easiest to eat so I added unflavored Protein to them. Soups like french onion, seafood bisque, clam chowder (I filtered out the clams, they bothered me at that time), broccoli cheese, and pea Soup (still my favorite). I could manage Protein shakes and yogurt, too but I got thoroughly sick of sweet things pretty quick. Hot herbal teas were good too. Tastes and smells will get better. Hope you feel better soon!

Thx everyone. Terry I'm going to try the Soups. Only reason I haven't so far was the carbs/sugar contents.

Cream Soups were recommended during the full liquid stage. You can't really eat much at three weeks, I was eating around 1/4 - 1/3 cup at that time. It's not really enough for the small amount of carbs or sugar to be a problem. Someone mentioned here somewhere that Protein can offset the effects of sugar and/or carbs? If so, maybe it helped that I added Protein powder?

Introduce new foods with care. We are all different - what didn't bother me, just might bother you. Good luck! :-)

I've been having this problem too but thank goodness something comes up because the pain is worse. I am having the exact issues Terry described (I am 2 weeks post op) and am to the point that I regret doing this and I'm looking into reversing it.

For Protein my doc suggested Ensure clear. I have some blueberry pomegranate that was tolerable yesterday and actually gave me a little energy because I have none.

Partly

It is normal to have regrets at your stage. I cried for several weeks and thought I must have been crazy to do this to myself - all I want is a piece of pizza!

If you are still having issues make sure you talk with your doc and let them know what is going on.

Where in Texas are you. I am in DFW!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
