I had my surgery August 15th. I haven't had any complications so far. The only thing I have experienced is getting really sick' date=' I got extremly nauseous , started dry heaving and sweating uncontrollably. I called my doctor becasue it's been three days since this has happened and he said it sounds like low blood sugar and when I feel like this to sip on some apple juice , hard candy or glucose tablets. I just find this so strange as I wasn't diabetic before my surgery and also I have gone a day without eating before.

Since this has happened I still feel nauseous and I really don't want to eat but am forcing some food down...blah!

On a good note my incisions are seeming to heal nicely. I've been using silicon scar pads and Vitamin E oil. I have been getting some compliments about looking like I've lost weight especially in my face and I do notice it in some of my clothes but as I'm sure we all can agree on the weight isn't coming off were I want it lol![/quote']

I've also experienced dry heaving for a week or so. I had an endoscopy this morning to see if my hole had shrunk too much but it hadn't. Mr docs solution was to re-prescribe an antacid that I was on for 4 weeks post op. It looks like I have some erosion of the stomach lining that could potentially become an ulcer.

I've been having the dry heaves for the last week also. And I was told before I had surgery on August 16th that I had a large ulcer. They doubled my dexilant already. Then yesterday I just passed out cold on my front porch out of the blue and have been feeling that same way since.

My doctor told me several weeks ago that I needed an EGD but didn't want to do it so soon after surgery but I am now 7 weeks. I have an appt with him on Monday to discuss the symptoms and possibility of the EGD now. How far out from surgery were you when you had your EGD?

I'm with you. 6 weeks of pain' date=' discomfort and misery. I need some relief. .. going to see my doctor tomorrow. I pray they tske this drainage tube out...[/quote']

I'm sorry to hear you're still in pain and that you still have that horrible drainage tube. Did your Dr say why you ave to keep the tube in? Mine was removed at my 2 week check up. I feel nauseous most days and certain smells make me queasy but I can eat a little more than I did weeks ago. The key for me is chewing, it works but if I can't get it to mushy then I have to spit it out. Sorry so gross but its true.

I had my scope done at 7wks post op. I've had 2 days of being on this antacid (its called prevacid). I did heave this evening but it was right after I opened my parents smelly fridge so I don't think I'll count it. I was also given permission to use gravol for nauseau and I have taken 1 chewable fast acting tablet per day.

I was able to eat half a biscuit with Peanut Butter and about 1tbsp of chili & rice today. Sorry if this is TMI but I've been pooping it out quickly. I went approx 5 days of eating very little so I didn't poop then. Now I'm making up for it I guess.

I would definitely call your doctor but with my humble experience, when I had calf and thigh pain I was low on potassium. I supplemented by eating bananas and drinking apple juice...have you had bloodwork lately?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
