Ive been MIA for a while because I had a huge complication. On oct 3rd I went to the dr because I was still having trouble with getting Water and food to stay down. They immediately did an xray with barium and saw problem. I had surgery the next day. They removed scar tissue the size of a fist that was hardened like a rock. It was totally strangling my intestines. My drs had not seen anything like it in 18 years of practice. They removed the scar tissue, rerouted my intestines and basically did the bypass again. Im doing much much better now at 3 weeks post op (2nd). Most if not all my prior issues are gone. Everything's fine except I have this stupid gtube in my belly. Just an extra tool to help me get more.water and Protein in if I need it. I despise it and dont use it though. So that's my story. I'll keep you updated.

Don't be discouraged. 5 lbs is still great. I saw my surgeon a couple weeks back, and he told me to make sure I'm getting enough calories in my body, and drinking enough Fluid. He also said that there are some people that don't lose any weight at first then they come back 3 months later and lost 40+ lbs! He told me I need to get in at least 1200 calories but I also had the DUODENAL SWITCH not the gastric bypass. Are you exercising? I'd call your surgeon. Make sure you're getting in 800 to 1000 calories. Don't eat more in one meal but eat more meals over the day. So if you eat 3 times a day try to eat 5 or 6times a day. Anyways hope this helps some. I was very discouraged when I saw my surgeon cause my weight loss I thought was bad but we all have stalls. I had lost 20lbs in the first 2 weeks after surgery. It took 6 weeks before I broke that stall and lost more. Anyways don't be discouraged just keep motivated and all will work itself out :) hope this helps some

Hi all. I had my surgery 8.14.13. My starting weight was 322 surgery wght was 303.6 cw is 262.1. Those numbers just now my mind .

So far so good. I've become lactose intolerant since surgery. So it's making some forms of Protein quite hard but I'm doing it. The only problem so far is female related. I've have my period for 7 out of the 9 weeks. Like really bad though. Scary bad. Anyone else have this issue? Sorry for the TMI

Also my next big problem is Vitamins. I can't stomach the taste of any of the chewables. What are people using?

I use vita-vim chewable vitamins, they might be jamieson brand.

I got to see a dr today. He gave me a prescription for a different antacid that I'll try tomorrow. Also got a scrip for anti nausea, tried it 15min ago and its staying down alright.

I was getting to the point where Water was even making me nauseous. In the past 4 days I had 2 bites of banana, 2 tbsp yogurt, half cup Soup and maybe 5 cups of water. Was drinking some g2 Gatorade trying to get electrolytes.

Hello everyone! My stats HW 259 SW 247 CW 215 -- I seem to be in a stall like Mz Shay. It is probably my own falt, I struggle getting in the Water and Protein. I have 3 flights of stairs to my office and when I get to the top my bones are just tired, though I am not out of breath. Tomorrow I will try even harder with the water and protein and hopefully I will start to see results. Congrats to all of you on the journey so far.

I'm sorry to hear tey want to put it back in and that you made need it to feed yourself. I've lost track I'm either 7 or 8 weeks out and have been cleared to eat anything but my new pouch is so fickle so I try to stock with moist chx' date=' fish and ground turkey but I chew until its puréed. Some days are better than others. Smells make me nauseous ad so do certain foods. I can drink a little more than the baby sip but I'm still a work in progress. So each day you will get better a little more pain will subside and eventually you will begin to feel somewhat normal. Granted I still slime from time to time but I'm getting better. Just be patient. I pushed myself to move around and to get in my fluids and meds and still do to this day. Eventually we all adjust. Keep on striving and you'll do great! Best of luck to you! Oh try the small 8 ounce bottles of Water or a tumbler cup so you can measure your fluids better and not feel overwhelmed. I've even started drinking more Decaf tea because water doesn't taste as good as it use to but it's slowly tasting better.[/quote']

Hi thank you for all your good advice and encouraging words. Since my last post, I was put on nausea meds and it worked. I'm feeling much better and I'm eating without getting nauseous all the time. My Protein intake still suck and my water too. But I'm tolerating food better. I go to my doctor this Friday morning and I will refuse tube being put back in. I am determining to increase my protein and water intake without tubal assistance. Just like you smells triggers nausea. Its 8 weeks since surgery, I hope tjis side effect goes soon...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
