iJackie 6 Posted December 22, 2013 Hey everyone! Just a quick update... had my surgery on friday, took my surgeon about 1hr & 20mins. Recovery was hard the first hour I felt a lot of pain I was not expecting. After the pain meds kicked in (dilaudid) I was fine. I was up and walking the next day. Im passing gas and urinating on my own. I have made it to 2oz of liquid in 1hr and if I can do 4oz in an hr I can go home tonight. I have been sitting up and putting on my slipper socks alone. I still have a drainage tube from my stomach which comes out before I leave I have slept on my right side and my back both are comfortable for me. All is well. Hoping everyone else has a smooth surgery and post op!
LillyRoad 15 Posted December 22, 2013 I came home yesterday. Took pain med on an empty stomach and got very nauseous. I can tolerate the pain but the nausea is the worst! Drinking but not taking in food yet. I did some Soup yesterday but not interested at home.

HeroOfThisStory 24 Posted December 23, 2013 sugar free vanilla pudding just became my favorite thing ever. Not much Protein but at least there's a little Calcium. Also loving refried Beans with a little mild taco sauce that was recommended to me on this thread. :-) So sick of "chicken salad" and cottage cheese. Blah. Also good luck to all the remainder of December surgeries!!!

After week ten I can slowly introduce normal foods minus the starches and red meat.

After week ten I can slowly introduce normal foods minus the starches and red meat. I should clarify...I say everything but you are right. Pork and no red.meat for long time. No asparagus, bacon, or steak. And supposed to be on pureed for at least 3 weeks and then soft foods. I am very careful and a bit hyper vigilent as to not go overboard. I am really not eatting much. Drinking but not taking in food yet. I did some Soup yesterday but not interested at home. Hi, I had my surgery on 12/19 and came home 12/21. I had some broth that night (ick), and had some of my day 1 diet yesterday. I'm focusing mostly on the Water and trying to get some of the Protein in. I'm a little nauseous this morning, but generally ok. I'm wondering if that's because I took some Tylenol (allowed) on an empty stomach last night. Do what you can with the food, but definitely stay hydrated. I think that can cause nausea too.
