December Surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Day 2 after surgery. I'll be in the hospital at least until tomorrow afternoon. Things didn't go exactly as planned...they got 4 holes poles in me and decided because of my anatomy they had to revert to an open rny. I'm in a lot of pIn tonight from the muscles and all being cut, but I have no gas pains. I was doing really well up until this evening but now the pain is crazy bad. They have upped feh delodid and Tylenol. I'm hoping tonight is the worse of it. More later or tomorrow.

h

Hang in it will be better keep positive!

RDC, every dr. is different in what they order for each patient. I had bloodwork drawn, EKG and chest Xrays. It took maybe 30 minutes or maybe longer not really a big deal!

CJS what about your anatomy could they not do the laposcopic procedure? I am kinda worried that it will happen to me since they are removing all of the stomach except the pouch.

The nurse who did my pre op stuff at hospital said it almost never happens that they have to open you for surgery! I sure hope he is right!

Hang in there and keep us posted on how you are doing.... :)

Hey everyone. Pre op diet has been a little rough but I just bought a scale and I'm down 2.6lbs in 2 days!! Only 1.4lbs to go to be under 300!!! My goal from day one was to be under 300 before surgery! So excited! How is everyone else doing. I can't believe it's December and we have people in our group having surgery now!!!

Absolutely. Each day it gets better. Today was certainly the best! Between 3-5 I seem to be the most hungry. And Jello does nothing lol. So I may try to have my lunch shake a little later. But today was great.

I don't think I'll ever prefer Protein Shakes again as long as I live! On the plus side, I'm not hungry at all. I suppose that has to do with the Protein satisfying me and the fact that that's what I have to eat/drink all day.

That's awesome! Each day seems to get better for me. I bought some samples of the nectar shakes. Found some yummy ones!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
