So here is my situation. I am 6 Weeks out I had my surgery on the 16th of July.... I have only lost 30lbs... Is this normal. I have to admit that I have a hard time getting all the Protein in and the Water. It's hard like how are you to get all that Fluid in in 24hrs and make sure that you eat and still work.... Like I feel like a failure. I thought that the fact that I workout 5 days a week would really increase the weight loss but I feel that I am stuck in a rut....Like is this normal. I know that they say it is based on your body type and the weight that you was at before.. I am very solid..No flab her like really solid. So I feel that the weight loss is going to be slower but not this slow. I just really feel that I am not working....What can I do im lost, depressed, and confused. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPP. Someone who has been through this please help.

Well it sounds like you are not getting enough Protein to fuel your body. If you are working out that much - then you must get in all your protein. Also remember that muscle weighs more than fat. So you could be building muscle while losing fat.

Also I would suggest you start logging your food. It will help you keep up with your protein intake.

Stop worrying my friend! You have lost a great amount of weight! I am at 60 at 4 months post op. I was 303 at surgery and was not flabby either, but a big solid girl. ;) once the weight starts coming off the solid turns flabby. Do you drink Protein shakes? I have at least 2 a day with milk so that is 60 grams right there. I will even mix some unflavored Protein into my crystal light. I am not a big eater now but I can drink liquids all day. I mostly do the shakes, cottage cheese and beef Jerky. Probably not the best way but I figure that it will come and protein and fluids are my priority right now. You are doing super on your loss!

Don't be hard on your self. You are doing wonderful. You may lose slower but that's great cuz if you lose fast you will be saggy like me :(

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
