Mel3620 299 Posted August 31, 2013 Thanks everyone! Well' date=' I tried a taco and it actually set very well with me. I had no problem at all. Of course I was only able to eat about 1/2 of a small taco but that's a good thing! The doctor told me to eat beef if that is what settles well. They do want you to get to eating food and not just shakes and cottage cheese lol. Anyway, the taco has been mine for about an hour and all is well. Yoo hoo! Mel3620, what mexican are you having? I love mexican food! So much of what I like is cheese and high fat though Just looking for ideas. Thanks![/quote'] We love Mexican and so we have gone to the restaurant a few times. I generally get a taco and I scrape off the meat and cheese into some pinto Beans. I will also put some salsa on it. Love spicy! I can't eat it all, but what I get in us delicious! I have tried a couple chips as well. They went down pretty well.
aba9903 35 Posted August 31, 2013 Everyone seems to do well with spicy. I loooove Mexican food but I'm terrified of anything spicy. I guess I should just go for it. Also, cheese enchiladas are amazing and high in Protein from the cheese but aren't they also a little greasy and high in fat? I've been so sick with my stricture I'm scared of everything. You all don't have any problems with them though?

Yes they are greasy and such but I can't eat more than a couple bites and feel fine after. Yes, they are high in fat, but I can eat so little that I don't think it has affected me. I am 12 weeks postop and am down 50 pounds. 2 aba9903 and lisalisalisa reacted to this

Mkmb2006 41 Posted November 11, 2013 Can I ask you guys something? I've not yet had surgery... I understand that you can only eat a little because the pouch only holds so much, but do you feel hungry? Or do you feel full and "want" more? I'm trying to evaluate my behavior because I frequently overeat past full because I like the food.... For instance, I could eat 3 baskets of chips, then still the meal.... Do you feel satisfied, both physically and mentally? Sorry if that's a deep question when all you guys were talking about was tacos, but I LOVE tacos! Lol
lisalisalisa 54 Posted November 11, 2013 I can only speak for myself but I learned real quick not to eat too much or I'd throw up, get nausea or have pain. That's a huge deterrant lol. I found that over eating is no problem at this point, I'm 3 months out. The price I pay is too high so no, I don't want it I am physically and mentally satisfied. Further, when I do crave something it moves out of my head faster than I can believe sometimes. I would think that the lack of hunger helps as far as that goes. Do you feel satisfied, both physically and mentally? Sorry if that's a deep question when all you guys were talking about was tacos, but I LOVE tacos! Lol I'm 6 weeks out. I haven't been hungry, yet. I need to measure my food and watch the clock to remind myself to eat. I'm the cook in my family and mainly because I'm not hungry I can still cook and not be tempted to eat it. I've gone to restaurants and ordered an appetizer or split the meal with someone else. So far, so good.
