To those who had gastric bypass, do tacos make you dump? I remember someone said they did so I'm scared lol. It's not something I would think of as having sugar in it!

I would think that the fast food taco is probably high fat- I think that can cause dumping too. I was told high fat and sugar can cause it. I'm going to try homemade tacos with ground turkey tonight so hopefully it will go ok!!!!

I have a hard time with chicken as well, but Mexican has been something that has worked well for me since a month out.

Thanks everyone! Well, I tried a taco and it actually set very well with me. I had no problem at all. Of course I was only able to eat about 1/2 of a small taco but that's a good thing! The doctor told me to eat beef if that is what settles well. They do want you to get to eating food and not just shakes and cottage cheese lol. Anyway, the taco has been mine for about an hour and all is well. Yoo hoo!

Mel3620, what mexican are you having? I love mexican food! So much of what I like is cheese and high fat though :( Just looking for ideas. Thanks!

I can do one hard taco from Taco Bell no problem. Done it many times- use the mild sauce to make sure it's all very moist. I also did a chicken quesadilla once and was ok. I can eat the whole taco but did only half the quesadilla. I only tried the quesadilla once as its expensive and I waste half.

At Mexican restaurants I order one cheese enchilada and retried Beans. Depending on the portions I typically get 2 meals from that. :)

cheese enchiladas are my favorite. I forget we eat so little that it's not as bad as I am thinking. Thanks.

They are my favorite too. That's how I figured it. I used to could eat 3 with the rice and Beans and of course the chips and queso. Now that was an awful meal. I'd also probably have drank a big margarita. Now it's half an enchilada and a couple bites of beans. Lol that's not enough to hurt me and I rarely eat out anyway. Just not worth the money.

I laughed because I'd normally eat a large taco and fries and I had half of a small taco. I really like this not being able to eat a lot. It's awesome! I just wish I could stay not hungry forever. That's the best!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
