Hi, I had my surgery Monday August 26, I am home now on a puréed diet. Our teacher told us we may struggle to eat 3 oz of food. So far I don't have that problem, in fact I can't tell if I'm full at all, nor do I feel hungry. I still have belly pain, so maybe that's it, but between not having a hard time eating and not being able to tell if I'm hungry at all, things just seem odd, any thoughts?

It takes at least 3 weeks for the nerve ending in your new pouch to heal. Don't overdo it. Measure what your are consuming per your nut and drs specs

date of surgery 02/21/12 surgery weight 340 lbs. current weight 146 lbs

I had surgery August 22nd and I know what you mean. I am not hungry, nor can I ever tell if I am full. I'm still on full liquids till tomorrow so it's pretty easy for me..I just sip all day long. I thought about this and was nervous before stating puréed foods but I looked into the communication I received from my surgeon and the hospital and it gives measurements and sample diets. So I figure I will just go by those and eat only the amount told or less until I learn my full queues and this pain leaves.

If you get to pain, you ate too much. My surgery was 8/7 and I dont feel "full" either anymore. For me it's more like a pressure feeling. I pay close attention to it as I eat because I don't want to go over that amount. 1. it's not a good idea to push it for several reasons but 2. that pain is not comfortable at all and takes a while to ease off. When I stopped eating sooner, I stopped getting pain. I am like Pavlov's dog lol.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
