hip hop classes

Recommended Posts

I go in Tuesday for surgery and always have been very active for my weight which surprises my surgeon and my pcp and I am a quick healer as well. I am registered for a hip hop class this year at my daughters dance school (finally brave enough) and I am hearing roughly 2-3 weeks before cardio which is all the dance class really is. Anyway class starts Wednesday I know their is no way the day after surgery I well be up for dancing and so does the teacher. I told her two to three weeks after surgery and she's okay with that. I am going to ask the surgeon at the hospital q&a the morning of surgery but want to get a feel from other patients. When did you start your cardio?

I was in a lot of pain after surgery. Walking on a treadmill was very hard. I took it slow, but I had a hard time. You may b one of the lucky ones up and walking right after. Best Wishes! I have no regrets!!

Yeah my surgeon requires all patients to be up and attempting to walk two hours after surgery and fully up and walking after four hours. Then for ten mins every hour you are awake you lap the floor and the nurses are on you about getting up. He is strict and that's one of the reasons I wanted him for my surgery. Another reason ifs he holds you accountable and I need that kind of person pushing me, testing my buttons and boundaries.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
